Guardian FAQs
Frequently asked questions for parents and guardians.
RSVPs and Availability
How do I RSVP to an event?
- Open the Rostered app and go to your family's schedule
- Tap on the event you want to RSVP for
- Select your child from the list (if you have multiple athletes)
- Choose your response: Attending, Not Attending, or Maybe
- Tap "Submit RSVP" to save
You can also RSVP directly from event notification emails by clicking the response buttons.
Can I RSVP for multiple days at once?
Yes! For multi-day events like tournaments or camps, the RSVP modal shows all event dates. You can set a different response for each day. For example, your athlete might attend Saturday but not Sunday of a tournament.
What's the difference between attending, not attending, and maybe?
- Attending: Your athlete is confirmed to participate
- Not Attending: Your athlete will not be at this event
- Maybe: You're unsure and will decide later (coaches may follow up)
Responding "Maybe" is better than not responding at all - it helps coaches plan while giving you flexibility.
How do I see who else is attending an event?
Tap on any event to view the event details. The RSVP summary shows how many athletes have responded with each status. Depending on your club's privacy settings, you may see a list of athlete names and their responses.
Schedule and Calendar
How do I see my child's schedule?
Your family schedule appears on the home screen after logging in. It shows all upcoming practices, games, and events for your athletes. You can filter by athlete if you have multiple children in the club.
How do I add the schedule to my phone's calendar?
- Go to Settings in the Rostered app
- Look for "Calendar Subscription" or "Subscribe to Calendar"
- Tap the subscription link - it will open your phone's calendar app
- Confirm the subscription
Your child's schedule will now sync automatically to your phone's calendar. Events update automatically when the schedule changes.
Tip: Each athlete can have a custom prefix (like their initials) added to calendar events, making it easy to distinguish between multiple children's activities.
Communication
How do I contact my child's coach?
- Go to your athlete's team in the app
- Look for the Coaches section in the team roster
- Tap on a coach's name to see their contact information
You can also reply to team messages to reach the coaching staff.
Why am I not receiving notifications?
Check these common causes:
- App notification settings: Open Rostered > Settings > Notification Preferences and make sure the notification types you want are enabled
- Phone settings: Go to your phone's Settings > Notifications > Rostered and ensure notifications are allowed
- Email spam folder: Check if Rostered emails are going to spam; add noreply@rostered.app to your contacts
- Communication preferences: Some clubs allow you to choose email vs. push notifications for different message types
How do I change my notification preferences?
- Open the Rostered app
- Go to Settings > Notification Preferences
- Toggle on/off the notification types you want:
- Schedule changes
- New events
- Weekly schedule digest
- RSVP requests and reminders
- Game and practice reminders
- Team, division, and club messages
Both email and push notifications are available. See the Push Notifications section below for setup instructions.
Profile and Settings
Can I customize how my athlete appears in the app?
Yes! You can set a display name and nickname for your athlete. This is helpful if your child goes by a different name than their legal name.
- Go to your athlete's profile
- Edit the display name or nickname field
- Save changes
The display name will be used throughout the app and in communications.
How do I update my profile or password?
- Open the Rostered app
- Tap on your profile picture or name in the settings area
- Update your information: name, email, phone number, or photo
- To change your password, look for the "Change Password" option
If you need to change your email address, you may need to contact your club administrator.
Coaching Notes
Why can't I see coaching notes?
Coaching notes are private communications between coaches and club administrators. They're used for tracking athlete development, noting injuries, or recording other information that helps the coaching staff.
Guardians typically don't have access to coaching notes. If you need information about your athlete's progress or development, please contact the coach directly.
Push Notifications
How do I enable push notifications on my phone?
iPhone:
- Go to Settings → Rostered → Notifications
- Turn ON "Allow Notifications"
- Enable Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners
- Turn on Sounds and Badges if desired
Android:
- Go to Settings → Apps → Rostered → Notifications
- Turn ON "Show notifications"
- Set importance to High for immediate alerts
Then in the Rostered app, go to Settings → Notification Preferences and choose which alerts you want to receive.
Why am I not getting push notifications?
Common fixes:
- Check device settings: Make sure notifications are enabled for Rostered in your phone settings
- Check app settings: Verify notification preferences are turned on in Rostered
- Update the app: Make sure you have the latest version
- Restart the app: Close and reopen Rostered
- Log out and back in: This refreshes your notification settings
Multiple Clubs
How do I switch between clubs if my family is in multiple organizations?
- Look for the club name at the top of the app
- Tap on the current club name to see a dropdown
- Select the club you want to view
- All content (athletes, schedules, messages) will switch to that club
Each club is completely separate - you'll need to set notification preferences and calendar subscriptions for each one.
Can I see schedules from multiple clubs at once?
The app shows one club at a time, but you can:
- Subscribe to calendars from each club (they'll appear in your phone's calendar)
- Use different colors for each club in your calendar app
- Switch between clubs in Rostered to check different schedules
Polls and Team Input
How do I respond to coach polls?
- You'll receive a notification when coaches create polls
- Open the poll from the message or team page
- Select your answer(s) - some polls allow multiple selections
- Add comments if the poll allows them
- Submit your response
Polls might ask about practice times, snack schedules, tournament participation, or team events.
Can I see how others voted on polls?
This depends on how the coach set up the poll:
- Anonymous polls: Your individual vote is protected — the club can see aggregated result counts, but no one (not even coaches) can see how any individual user voted. You can change your answer at any time before the poll closes.
- Counts Only: You can see vote counts per option, but not who voted for what
- Counts with Respondents: You can see who voted for each option
- Never Visible: Results are only visible to the poll creator (coaches/admins)
For all poll types, you can change your response up until the poll closes.
What happens if I miss the poll deadline?
- Contact your coach directly with your input
- Some polls stay open past the deadline for late responses
- Coaches may create follow-up polls if needed

Getting Started
How do I sign up?
You'll receive an invitation from your club via email or text message. Follow the link in the invitation to create your account and get connected to your family.
How do I add my child to my account?
Your club administrator manages athlete-family connections. If you don't see your child in your account:
- Contact your club administrator
- Provide your child's name and any identifying information
- They will link your athlete to your family account
You cannot add athletes yourself - this ensures data accuracy and prevents duplicate records.
What should I do during my first week?
- Complete your profile: Add photo and contact information
- Set notification preferences: Choose which alerts you want
- Subscribe to calendars: Sync your athlete's schedule to your phone
- RSVP to upcoming events: Let coaches know about attendance
- Download the mobile app: Better experience than web browser
- Explore team huddles: Connect with other families
