Send a Message to Your Division
Division-level coaches can send push notifications to all guardians across an entire division. This is useful for announcements that affect multiple teams, such as facility closures or division-wide events.
When to Use Division Messaging
Division messaging is best for:
- Announcements affecting all teams in the division
- Facility or venue changes that impact multiple teams
- Division-wide events or meetings
- Important policy updates
- Weather-related cancellations affecting the whole division
For team-specific information, use team messaging instead.
Navigating to Division Messaging
- Open the Rostered app and tap the Coach tab
- Find your division in the Your Divisions section
- Tap the division to open the division details screen
- Look for the megaphone icon in the top-right corner of the header
Sending a Division-Wide Notification
- Tap the megaphone icon to open the message composer
- The modal will confirm you're sending to the division (not a single team)
- Check the guardian count to see how many people will receive your message
- Type your message in the text field (up to 500 characters)
- Tap Send to Division when ready
Understanding the Reach
Division messages reach:
- All guardians of athletes in any team within the division
- Only guardians with push notifications enabled
- Guardians who have the Rostered app installed on their device
This typically means more recipients than a team message, so use division messaging thoughtfully.
Viewing Division Message History
- From the division details screen, tap Messages in the Details section
- View all push notifications previously sent to the division
- Each entry shows when the message was sent and its content
Division vs Team Messaging
| Use Division Messaging When | Use Team Messaging When |
|---|---|
| News affects all teams | News affects only one team |
| Facility-wide announcements | Team-specific schedule changes |
| Division events or meetings | Team practice updates |
| Weather cancellations for all | Individual game changes |
Best Practices
- Double-check your audience - Make sure you're sending to the division, not just a team
- Be clear about scope - Specify which teams or age groups are affected if not everyone
- Avoid duplicates - If you send a division message, you don't need to also send individual team messages for the same announcement
- Consider timing - Division messages reach more people, so be extra mindful of when you send them
